Tiny Swiss town builds the world's first solar-powered ski lift -- Even though as the crow flies, the postage-stamp town of Tenna, Switzerland, isn't far from historic resorts like St. Moritz and Davos, Tenna is a one-horse town, one-shop, one-school, and one t-bar town. And that t-bar, the only ski lift in the whole valley, was on its last legs. But rather than let it die, locals raised enough money to update it and then went a step further: They built the world's first solar-powered ski lift.

Steve Jobs, the Apple co-founder who resigned from the company in the mid-1980s and returned a decade later to make Apple one of the most successful technology companies in the world, died on Oct 5, 2011. His accomplishments liken him to Thomas Edison and others as one of History’s greatest inventors/innovators. He lacked a college degree, began by sleeping on the floors of his friends homes, and rose to a pinnacle of success seldom achieved by anyone. He is a Winner Against the Odds.

At age 52, when most people look toward retirement, Ray Kroc began McDonald's, a big company that has remained the # 1 restaurant chain in the world for about half a century. Via his McDonald's franchises, it is believed that he probably made multimillionaires of more people in a shorter time than any other person in modern history. In 1974, he purchased the San Diego Padres baseball franchise. He was, and his estate continues to be, a major philanthropist via the Kroc Foundation and the Ronald McDonald Children's Fund.

It is quite fitting that Nike Corp. be named after a Greek Goddess, as the company's co-founder, Phillip Hampson Knight, has become somewhat of a mythical figure himself. Phillip Hampson Knight, the 7.3 billion dollar net worth, enigmatic figure at the helm of the most successful athletic company in the history of the world, has become a legend, especially here in Oregon, his home state. Since Nike currently sells 40% of the nation's athletic footwear, it is sometimes easy to forget about the company's humble beginnings.

Melody Bnah is a woman with a great passion for everything she does in life and in business. When she was fourteen, she longed to own a horse, but her parents told her she couldn't, as it was out of their budget. She began to save up money through babysitting and other jobs and was able to purchase a horse by herself in a matter of months. By the time she was fifteen, she had bought and sold horses at the largest horse and mule auction in the world, the LA County Horse and Mule Auction. "I paid the mortgage on our family's house with the money I made."

People come in here and enjoy walking through this kind of store. There are things that we won't change about the store that make it the special shopping environment that it is -the wooden floors, the way the store is set up, the history behind the building, the way we care about our customers," said Scott Lockwood, who owns the store with his wife, Tory.
